June 19, 2009Urban Settlement Services, LLC is ranked on Black Enterprise Magazine's List of Top 100 Black Owned Businesses in the Nation Pittsburgh, PA – June 4, 2009 - Urban Settlement Services, LLC., the largest minority owned Settlement Service Company in the nation, has been selected by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the top Black Businesses in the nation and is listed on the "2009 B.E.100s List."
The magazine, which recently released its 37th annual BE 100s report, ranked Urban Settlement Services, number 82 on the list in the Industrial /Service Companies Category. "This is the first year my company has made the list, and I am extremely proud to be listed among the country’s most successful minority-owned businesses, said Charles Sanders, the company's CEO and Founder. "I consider Black Enterprise Magazine as the nation's premier source for news when it comes to Blacks and Economics. Black Business is big business, and Black Enterprise Magazine's BE 100s is the authoritative indicator of the State of Economics in Black America," Sanders added.
With continued increases in revenue and contract awards, Urban Settlement Services hopes to become a permanent fixture on the BE 100 list. The company, founded by Charles and Elisa Sanders in 1998, is the second largest black-owned company in Pennsylvania, with a staff of 125 and revenue of 50 million grossed in 2008.
The company, processes and provides information regarding loan modifications, loss mitigation, title, title insurance and appraisal information for banks and lenders. It is also a leading supplier of real estate information products to the mortgage lenders and government agencies. In 2008, the company processed approximately 600,000 loan work-outs that helped thousands of families to keep their homes.
To be eligible for the BE 100 list, a company must be at least 51% black-owned and have been fully operational for the previous calendar year. The company must manufacture or own the products it sells or provide industrial or consumer services. The listing is recognized as the most respected measure of black-owned business performance, "Too often we don't hear about the accomplishments of our people, but with the BE 100's you find the best Black entrepreneurs and business leaders performing at the highest level," Sanders added. Sanders has had tremendous success working in the mortgage industry where he has positioned his company to play a vital role in working with lenders to help American families achieve and protect the dream of homeownership.
